The Tabitha Babbitt; modified Chevy van, 2017
The U.S. Craft Bureau’s main public face is a mobile services truck. Fondly referred to as the Tabitha Babbitt, the truck is a highly modified 1957 aluminum-bodied Chevy delivery van. The Tabitha Babbitt is named after the fabled Shaker sister who is credited with inventing the circular saw. The Babbitt serves as both production workshop for Bureau projects and as a teaching space. It is currently outfitted with a fold-down work platform, woodworking bench, drill press, band saw, and table saw.
